Ron Campurciani has been named acting chief of the Mooresville Police Department, effective immediately. A 34-year veteran of law enforcement, Campurciani has served as executive director of the Western Massachusetts Police Chief Association and chief of police in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

“Based on the recommendation of our outside investigators and information I have reviewed to date, I made the decision to appoint an acting police chief to enact immediate change in our police department,” said Interim Town Manager Ryan Rase in an email to police this morning. “I am comfortable in the knowledge and ability of Mr. Campurciani to lead this temporary situation.”

Campurciani will likely serve as chief at least until the ongoing investigation into MPD’s working environment is complete.
