Combining two of Mooresville’s oldest, most treasured downtown businesses and families under one roof has reunited a small, “old town” community of people.

And it feels like home, they say.

Near the town’s historic Mill Village, far from the traffic and noise of the western part of town, lies one of Mooresville’s best-kept secrets. Folks passing by Shop N Save Markets at 1105 Mecklenburg Highway may mistake it for an unassuming gas station. But any Mooresville native will agree: that building has for years boasted “the best steaks in Mooresville.”

Town targets critic

Journalists aren’t above the law, but neither should the law — and those who enforce it — go out of its way to target us.

It should perhaps come as no surprise, though, that that’s what’s happening in Mooresville.

I’ve lived in my home in downtown Mooresville for 20 years. Until a few years ago, I never had any issues. Then the land behind my house was cleared, two homes were built, and a couple relocated to Mooresville and into one of those homes.

It’s a Christmas Miracle!

It’s like an olive branch. But it’s a 23-foot Christmas tree.

This week, Josh Graham and brother-in-law Garrett Deweese, owners of Josh’s Farmers Market, hauled the massive tree from a grower in West Jefferson, all the way down Main Street into Downtown Mooresville and to the corner of Main and McLelland Avenue, where the big blue “150” stands to commemorate the town’s 150th birthday this year.
