Mooresville K9 officer shot, killed

Mooresville is mourning the loss of one of its finest.

Mooresville Police Department K9 Officer Jordan Harris Sheldon, 32, was shot and killed just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 while conducting a routine traffic stop on West Plaza Drive.

A member of the MPD for six years, Sheldon was transported from the scene but later died from his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene but was later located in a nearby apartment, where he was confirmed dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation is continuing.
